Campaign Staff Training and Jobs: FAQ

When is the next EMILY’s List Training? Do you have a schedule for the trainings?
EMILY's List works diligently to ensure all training seminars serve as a tremendous resource for both Democratic campaigns and participants. Because the hiring and campaign staff needs vary according to campaign size, structure, and political climate, EMILY’s List trainings are determined on a rolling basis.

Similarly, trainings are fine-tuned according to the current needs and latest successful tactics of effective, progressive campaigns.

All scheduled trainings will be posted on the “Campaign Training and Jobs” page of our web site.

How much does an EMILY's List Training cost to attend?
It’s absolutely free!

EMILY’s List will cover all materials, housing, and meals costs throughout the duration of the training. You are only responsible for the travel costs to and from the location of the training.

Are only women eligible to participate in an EMILY's List Training?
EMILY’s List is constantly on the lookout for dedicated, hard-working staff. Although EMILY's List only endorses pro-choice Democratic women candidates, we encourage everyone to apply to the training program. Since 1993, over 1,000 women and men have gone through the EMILY’s List Training program.

Is the EMILY's List Training right for me?  Who benefits from the EMILY's List Training?
The focus of the EMILY's List Training program is to provide political operatives with the skills and confidence needed to win tough elections. If you are currently working or willing to relocate to work on a campaign full time, EMILY’s List training is the place for you. Regardless of experience level, trainings are beneficial to all operatives, from those with statewide experience to little or no experience at all.

EMILY's List holds Campaign Trainings focusing on Field, Fundraising, Campaign Management, Press, and Research.

For those who are recent college graduates, or are looking to get their foot in the door on a political campaign we recommend also checking out Campaign Corps. Campaign Corps is geared toward giving recent college grads their first experience in progressive politics. See www.campaigncorps.org for more information.

Where are the EMILY's List Trainings held?
We host EMILY's List Campaign Trainings in different locations throughout the country.

Do I have to be working on a campaign to attend an EMILY's List Training?
No. All training participants not already working for a pro-choice Democratic woman will be added to our job bank, to be distributed to campaigns across the country for consideration as staff.

Do I have to attend a training to be part of the EMILY's List Job Bank?
No. To submit your résumé to the Job Bank, simply fill out the training and job bank application and check the box indicating you’d only like to be considered for employment opportunities. You will be automatically added to the Job Bank.

The aim of the EMILY's List Job Bank is to connect trainees and experienced political professionals with Democratic campaigns and progressive organizations across the country that are looking for staff. The training and Job Bank program provides support and information to job bank participants to help them find meaningful work and make sensible career choices. We also happily serve as a sounding board for all job bank participants throughout every step of the hiring process (such as interviewing and negotiation tactics).
